Recipes from The Party Hack

I know if you are like me, you don’t always want to go crazy on a recipe for guests, but you still want something different and with impact. I hope that you find those kind of recipes here. This site won’t be a collection of every recipe I love or some endless database. What it will be are recipes that aren’t terribly difficult, expensive or take forever to do.

Some will be really unique. Some will be ones that are great for sitting out on a long night and won’t spoil. And almost all of them will be items I have served over and over and rarely get a “meh”. True crowd-pleasers. And little fuss. I like Bobby Flay too, but I won’t ever give you a recipe that has 57 ingredients or ask you to buy a $50 item you will use one ounce of.

Many of the food recipes will be classified as apps — probably because these are mostly for parties and won’t be full-on entrées. But there will be some. Like the umami pork chops — which are also featured in the “The Magic of Fish Sauce” blog post. A lot of the recipes will show up in a blog post because they have a certain backstory or have a particular hack I want to feature, but if you just go right to the recipes section of the site, I will just give you the recipe. You won’t have to scroll through a four-page story about why I love it. One of my pet peeves of recipe sites.

For the cocktail recipes, as it stands now, this will be somewhere you can find a collection of some of the classics, at least to start. I will post other ones that won’t break the bank — and maybe some that do:) I know not everyone wants to buy a bunch of bottles that they may use for one night and then never take out of the home bar again. But I will try to introduce some liqueurs and other mixers that can be widely used for a bunch of cocktails and make sure you use up that bottle.

More and more recipes will be added as time goes on. While not FoodNetwork.com, I hope this becomes a place where you come to (and return) for inspiration on what to serve at your next party.
